Join the Ride!

Welcome

Share the Road Texas strives to educate both cyclists & motorists on college campuses about bicycle laws, safe riding behaviors and the importance of motorist awareness of bicycles on the road.

Cyclists are considered vehicle operators and are required to obey the same rules other vehicle operators on the road and on college campuses.

Our current Texas university campuses are:

  • Austin: University of Texas at Austin, Austin Community College, Concordia University and St. Edwards University
  • Bryan/College Station: Texas A&M University
  • Denton:  University of North Texas
  • Galveston:  Texas A&M University, Galveston Campus
  • Houston: Rice University, University of Houston – main and downtown campuses
  • Huntsville:  Sam Houston State University
  • San Antonio:  University of Texas San Antonio, Trinity University
  • Waco:  Baylor University

Cyclists must:

  • Obey traffic signals,
  • Stop at stop signs,
  • Mind lane markings, and
  • Go with the flow of traffic (never against it).

Motorists must:

  • Share the road with cyclists,
  • Allow safe clearance to cyclists (3 feet),
  • Look for cyclists before opening their doors when parallel parking, and
  • Give cyclists the right of way when the situation calls for it.
